Atmaz Kumar Shrestha is a field biologist. He teaches microbiology in graduate level at Amrit Campus, Tribhuvan University. He has accomplished number of field expedition across Nepal. He has developed expertise in underwater photography, micro photography of fish, microbial and planktonic life. He is well-known for noble and evocative photo-images of fish, dolphin and other wildlife behaviour that convey sense getting up close to nature and natural wilderness. His technical ability is expressed in every photograph he has taken. He has fully illustrated books of Professor Tej Kumar Shrestha, including Birds of Nepal and Ichthyology of Nepal. He holds B.Sc degree majoring in Zoology and M.Sc degree in Microbiology from Tribhuvan University. He has contributed some scientific papers in international and national journals. He has co-authored the book "Himalayan Flowers, Trees and Animals" (2011). His major interest is the research on disease and microbiome biology, as well as fishery and wildlife diversity. He has served as in-country consultant for Characterization of Fishes of Nepal for The US Forest Service, International Programs (USFS/IP) in 2015.
