The Himalayan fresh water resource of Nepal has intrinsic academic, cultural, aesthetic and resources value. The conservation and management of the diminishing genetic resources and preservation of their gene bank are now a pressing problem.
The book is, therefore an original approach in a field in which there are few books available. The gene pool conservation and management approach to the diminishing fish and river wildlife is both modern and scientific. It stimulates the students of natural history and ecology to realize which the main environmental problems of Nepal are. This work will keep governmental administrators to develop ecologically realistic policies concerning the use and abuse of living fresh water resource in Nepal.
